Frequently asked questions

Short answers about the product. Symptom and nutrient articles are wellness education only, not medical advice.

What is CalBuddy?

CalBuddy is an AI calorie counter for iPhone and Android. It combines photo meal scanning for calories and macros, micronutrient gap insights, and real-human buddy alerts when you go over calories, miss two days of logs, or log junk food.

How does the AI photo meal scanner work?

You snap a meal and CalBuddy estimates calories plus protein, carbs, and fat so you can skip manual database search. Estimates are just estimates. Portions, sauces, and lighting affect results, so edit when you know better.

How does real-human accountability work?

You connect a real person by email. They can receive automated alerts for calorie overage, missed logs after two days, or a junk food flag. You can change your buddy anytime.

What triggers a buddy alert?

Three listing triggers: calorie overage, missed logs after two days of no logging, and a junk food flag for high-processed food. Alerts are automated so consistency is not only willpower.

When is a missed-log alert sent?

After 2 days of no logging, based on the App Store and Play Store product descriptions.

Does my buddy need to install the app?

Your buddy is connected by email for alerts. Follow the in-app invite flow after you install.

Does CalBuddy track macros?

Yes. Daily calories and macros (protein, carbs, fat) are part of the nutrition tracker, including estimates from the AI photo meal scanner.

Does CalBuddy help with micronutrients?

CalBuddy surfaces a glance at micronutrient gaps while you track food. It does not lab-test blood or diagnose deficiencies. Education and tracking only.

Is CalBuddy free?

Yes to download. Optional CalBuddy Pro is an in-app purchase listed at $69.99. Check the purchase screen for billing details before buying.

What platforms is CalBuddy on?

iPhone (iOS 15+) and Android via the App Store and Google Play. There is no web login. The product lives in the native apps.

How is CalBuddy different from MyFitnessPal?

MyFitnessPal is a broad food diary and database product. CalBuddy focuses on AI photo logging, micronutrient gap glances, and automated email-buddy alerts for overage, two-day misses, and junk food flags.

How is CalBuddy different from Cal AI?

Photo calorie logging is table stakes. CalBuddy’s wedge is buddy accountability alerts plus micronutrient gap insights, not “most accurate scanner” claims.

Is CalBuddy medical advice?

No. Symptom and nutrient articles on this site are general wellness education. CalBuddy is for fitness and food tracking only, not diagnosis or treatment.

Can CalBuddy diagnose a nutrient deficiency?

No. CalBuddy tracks intake and surfaces gap-style insights. Only a qualified clinician and appropriate testing can diagnose a deficiency.

Why does the site discuss symptoms?

People often search symptoms when something feels off. We explain educational nutrient associations, then point to tracking food and buddy alerts so logging sticks. We do not diagnose anyone.

Symptom and nutrient guides

Looking up tiredness, hair changes, cramps, or brain fog? We keep short educational pages on common symptoms and nutrients (iron, B12, vitamin D, magnesium, zinc, and more). They are wellness education only, not a diagnosis.
